Cross Tab Hints & Solver
Cross Tab Size Limits
A cross tab has a practical limit of 4000 rows.
If the cross tab you are generating creates a larger number of rows
you will have to redesign the cross tab to report on a smaller
range of values.
The column limit is dependent on the maximum
field/column storage capacity of a DBF file. Cross tab data is
stored in standard DBF files and can be accessed by other
applications such as word processors, spreadsheets and database
managers. The exact number of columns that will fit in a cross tab
is also dependent on the largest number that needs to be reported.
The total physical width of the cross tab is more important in
determining the maximum size allowed, rather than the total number
of columns available for use. (Practically speaking, the maximum
column width is of less concern since it would be difficult to fit
such a report across a printed page.)
It should be noted that you should keep your
column size limited so that the information on the cross tab can be
displayed across the maximum width of a printed report.
