Logging On
CAPITAL features a completely flexible and
adjustable security system
that will allow you to control access rights to CAPITAL's
functions, facility by facility, for up to 50 users. Unlike systems
you may have been familiar with in the past, there is no need to
"juggle" numeric access levels which often resulted in unworkable
security trade-offs.
If CAPITAL's security system is activated, it is
necessary to log-on with an appropriate password. If the security
assigned to that Kpassword is not high enough, then certain
facilities may not be available. CAPITAL invokes security
procedures by refusing access to a function, in which case the
message:
Security Access
Denied
will appear when an attempt is made to use a
denied feature.
Otherwise, CAPITAL will not display the option or
information that the user does not have security clearance to
access. To log on, move to the files menu and select log on, then
type in your password. The default password is master. This should be changed by the
administrator.
You will notice when entering your password, that
your key strokes are registered but are not echoed back. This is to
allow you to enter your password while other users are present. Any
combination of letters and numbers may be used as part of the
password and CAPITAL makes no distinction between upper and lower
case. If the password is invalid or has been incorrectly entered,
the security access denied message
will be displayed and you will have to log-on again.
Once a password has been accepted you will be
given the option to replace it. Do this by typing in a new password
or click OK to continue. Your original
password will then remain the same. If you decide to change your
password, you will be asked to re-type it to ensure you have
entered it correctly the first time. If the new first and second
passwords match, the new password will be accepted.
Once you have logged into CAPITAL your name will
appear at the bottom of the screen. Do not leave your system
unattended while your name is on display. Logging out is possible
either by exiting the CAPITAL program or by logging on again and
clicking OK instead of re-entering your
password. Your name will then disappear.
IMPORTANT: If the default security level is set
to 9 (See the CAPITAL Install program for more information) users
do not have to log-on. Security is effectively turned off.
