Group Wizard
The Group Wizard will allow you to quickly add
group headings, sub-totals and grand totals to your reports.
Panel 1
Begin by selecting the column you wish to add a
group to. The last column you clicked on with your mouse will be
highlighted automatically.
Panel 2
Specify the type of formatting for the column you
require:
As a Heading
This will display a block of descriptive text
above the column. Grouped headings will be redisplayed each time
the group changes. If you specify a heading you must fill in a
column heading name.
If you wish to place a permanent heading above the
column that appears at the top of each page, place a text object
above the column but outside the anchor margins of the form. (The
anchor margin is the green box that appears around the edges of the
form. Any object placed in this area or touching this area will
appear on every page of the form.)
As a Subtotal
The calculation will change every time the group
changes if this option is selected.
As a
Grand Total
The calculation will only appear once, at the end
of the report or section.
Panel 3
This panel will only appear if you have selected
either a sub-total or a total. You may choose from any of 8
different types of calculation:
Sum
This adds up all the numbers in the column.
Average
This calculates the mean or average of the
column.
Count
This counts the number of entries in the
column.
Minimum
This retrieves the smallest number found in the
column.
Margin
This calculates the profit margin. In order to
use this calculation you must also specify the Margin or Mark-up Relative To field. This field is
assumed to be the total sell price for all the numbers in the
column. The column numbers are assumed to be cost prices. The
result is displayed as a percentage.
Mark-Up
This calculates the profit mark-up. In order to
use this calculation you must also specify the Margin or Mark-Up Relative To field. This field is
assumed to be the total sell price for all the numbers in the
column. The column numbers are assumed to be cost prices. The
result is displayed as a percentage.
Unique Count
This retrieves the number of unique entries that
appear in the column. For example, if a column contains the numbers
5, 8, 2, 8 and 1, the unique count is 4, since the second "8" is
not included.
Maximum
This retrieves the largest number found in the
column.
Note: If you attempt to perform a mathematical
calculation on column of dates or text messages, the result will
always be zero.
Panel 4
This panel is not displayed if you have selected
a grand total. Grand totals always appear at the end of the report
or section.
Select which field change will trigger the
display of the sub-total. For example, if you wish to show the
total number of sales per day, then you would specify the "Date" as
the field that must change, before the sales sub-total is
displayed.
It is important that the form is also
sorted by the group that you choose. If the form is grouped by date
but not sorted by date, the sub-total will usually be wrong. To
control the sort order of the form or a section of the form, see:
Body Links.
