Bar Code Field Objects
This dialog allows you to format a field code or
formula as a bar code.
Symbology
Select the bar code symbology (format) you wish
to apply to the field or formula from the drop down list.
Text Alignment
Controls where the text will appear with the bar
code. The default setting is for the bar code text to appear
centered below the bar code. The text may also be arranged above or
to the right or left of the code or removed altogether.
Text Rotation
Text may appear either upright (normal) or upside
down.
Checksum
Some bar code symbologies require or offer
optional checksum bars. These may be selected from the available
list.
Error Correction
Some bar code symbologies offer various levels of
error correction. The higher the level of correction the more
likely that a bar code can be read under adverse conditions.
However, higher correction levels generally result in larger bar
codes.
Supplemental Code
Some bar code symbologies have supplemental
codes. These may be selected here if required by your
application.
Ratio
This controls the width ratio of the bar code.
Wider bars are easier to read on less sophisticated scanning
equipment but also occupy more room.
Bar
Width
Controls the physical width of the individual
bars of the bar code. The default setting is a width of 1 unit.
Test Bar Code Data
You can enter the data you wish to bar code here
for testing purposes. Some symbologies are unable to code letters
of the alphabet or special symbols such as punctuation marks. Other
bar codes require a specific number of digits or other special
character arrangements. Use this feature as a quick to test to see
if the bar code symbology you have selected will work with your
data. For a more thorough explanation of the capabilities and
limits of each bar code symbology see the reference below.
Test
Press this button to test your sample data. If a
bar code can be successfully created it will appear in the Preview
window.
