This issue of the CAPITAL e-letter focuses on system enhancements in transaction entry and the new Backup Wizard. Customise Your Transaction Screens Transactions screens such as invoices, sales orders, purchase orders, etc., have been significantly improved. A graphical pie chart of the account's ageing is available with one key press. You can also view all transactions relating to the account, as well as such things as pending back orders or related quotations, while having a transaction open. Functions such as customer special pricing, grab quotation or copy invoice, are all conveniently available from the pull-down menu. Many operations that could only be changed from within the INSTALLATION Workshop program can now be accessed directly from the menu. A common request has been to extend the address line space in CAPITAL. Series 7 now includes two large lines of address space on accounts and transactions, in addition to the suburb, state and postcode fields. The new customise menu allows users to add, remove, resize or re-arrange any of the columns on a transaction. These custom arrangements can be saved by individual user and automatically restored when you log in. A few of the available columns include:
If you would like to see a screen-shot of the Series 7 transaction input screen you can visit this web page: http://www.capitaloffice.com.au/tour/tour.htm The Backup Wizard A powerful and convenient new feature of Series 7 is the Backup and Restore Wizard. The Wizard will keep track of the last time a backup was made and can be set to remind you (or any specific user) if a backup hasn't been made in a specified number of days. Backup files are stored in standard compressed ZIP format, so they can also be unzipped using standard utility programs such as Winzip if you wish. One of the nicest features of the Backup Wizard is its ability to backup open CAPITAL files. Many standard backup programs cannot backup open files, so if a user accidentally leaves CAPITAL open on your network, you run the risk of having an incomplete backup. While it's recommended that you do not use the system while performing a backup, the Backup Wizard's ability to backup the system while it is running, adds an extra of layer of safety to your backup procedures. |
