The Report Writer/Editor
The report designer/editor allows you to
construct customised financial statements, modify existing reports
or edit reports created by the Quick Report Writer.
From the menu select Reports|Report
Writer/Editor. The following screen shows the report
designer/editor screen in edit mode.
Click on the open
icon on the toolbar or select File|Open... from the menu to produce
a list of available reports for editing. Select the name of the
report you wish to edit (the file extension will be .GPT) and click
on Ok.
If you wish to create an entirely new report,
click the 'New' icon or select
File|New from the menu.
Use all four arrow keys as well as the
pgup and pgdn keys to move
around the report. Click the relevant buttons to select
options.
Editor Options
General Ledger Codes
Displays the account codes and descriptions of
your chart of accounts. Click x to
close the window or press ESC, or use
the scroll bar to highlight the entry you want and double click to
copy it into your report at your current cursor position.
Financial Formulas
Displays the various financial formula table
account group codes. These can also be pasted into the report.
Preview Report
Select this option to display the output
generated by the report under construction, to the screen. It will
give you an accurate idea of how the report will appear in print.
Click closeto return to
editing mode. You can also print a trial run version of the report
using this option.
Save
Select this option to save all changes made to
the report.
Save As
Select this option to save all changes made to
the report under a different report name. CAPITAL will prompt you
for a file name. Select from the list to replace the original
report with this report, or type in a new file name to create a new
report.
Constructing Reports
Numerous commands are available for specifying
page centering and justification, company details, and time based
information such as the date the report was printed or the period
name in words, as well as other types of information. Refer to the
list of topics below for detailed information.
