Suburb

State

Postcode

Start-up Security Level

Enter the default start-up security level here. Entering 9 will disable/deactivate the security system. Any other number from 0 to 8 will activate it, forcing users to "log on" before they will be able to use CAPITAL.

generate/notepad.gifFor more information on security consult the topic: Master Security

Activate DataShield

Click this to activate CAPITAL GL Controller's DataShield data protection software system that will protect your master file account information from damage caused by computer interruptions during posting.

With DataShield activated CAPITAL will be able to roll back and recover from a failed posting, ensuring that incomplete or corrupted journals do not end up in your master file account balances. No software based data protection system is infallible and DataShield does not replace the requirement that you make regular back-ups, especially before you begin your posting cycle each period.

There is no particular reason why DataShield should be turned off, unless you are operating the general ledger on very old equipment or a very slow network in which case deactivating DataShield will offer a noticeable improvement in posting speed.

Sort Codes When Posting

Click this to allow CAPITAL to re-sort the master file in account code and period sequence before posting occurs. This is an added safety feature to protect against data corruption caused by hardware malfunction and other types of interruption. However, sorting the master file before posting causes a short delay before posting can begin. If speed of posting is important leave this box unticked to improve performance but slightly degrade reliability.

Start In Account Navigastor

Tick this box if you would like CAPITAL GL Controller to open the Account Navigator as soon as the software loads.

generate/notepad.gifThis option will be ignored if security is activated, since no users have yet been logged in at start-up. If the Start-up security level is set to 9, security is effectively turned off, and the Account Navigator will then be able to appear on start-up.
