Installing The Program CAPITAL requires a hard disk drive with a minimum of 10 megabytes of disk space (for the general ledger). Simply insert the CD into your computer and a menu should automatically appear prompting you to install the software. CAPITAL GL Controller will create a subdirectory called \CAPITAL and sample subdirectories under that. The main sub directory is \company, which contains sample company files set-up for you. You may need to make modifications to the chart you select, to match your particular requirements. Consult with your accountant if he or she requires that your chart of account codes match an existing chart in their possession. In which case it may be simpler to create a completely empty set of company files and enter a new set of account codes.
Refer to the Files section of the Reference guide for more information on creating and deleting firms/subdirectories. If you are already running CAPITAL Office software, you should place the CAPITAL GL Controller program on the same drive and in the same subdirectory as CAPITAL Office. This will normally be C:\CAPITAL (the default choice of CAPITAL GL Controller). While this is not mandatory, it will make the later task of updating the system, organising a back-up procedure, etc., a great deal easier. |
It is strongly
suggested that you try to avoid this if you can. There is a lot of
additional work involved in setting up a company from the
beginning, most of which can be completely avoided if you use the
supplied pre-configured sample company.
