Moving & Resizing Objects
Use the mouse to point to the object you wish to resize or move, and click the left mouse button to select the object. If the object has been selected, a series of handles will appear around the object. The following object (a box) has not yet been selected:
When the object has been selected a set of handles will appear around it:
To move an object around the screen press the left mouse button and move the mouse to drag the object. Release the left mouse button to relocate the object.
To restore the object back to its original position select Edit|Undo from the menu.
To unselect an object move the mouse to an area of the form that contains no objects and press the left mouse button.
Selecting the Right Object
It can sometimes be difficult to select the object you want if another object is very close to or overlaying the object you wish to manipulate. If you keep selecting the wrong object, try pressing the TAB key to select the next object on the screen. Keep pressing TAB until the object you wish to select is selected. If you accidentally move past the object you wish to select, you can press SHIFT-TAB to move backwards.
Another way to select the object you want is to put any other object obstructing it "behind" it. To do this:
1. Click, using the left mouse button, on the object you want to move out of the way. Handles will appear around the object.
2. Click on the right-mouse button. A pop-up menu will appear.
3. Select "Send to back" from the pop-up menu.
You should now be able to click on the object you want with the left mouse bottom. If other objects continue to obstruct it, repeat the above procedure for those objects as well.
Resizing Objects
To resize an object first select it as already indicated above. Move the mouse cursor to one of the handles that surround the object. The mouse cursor will change its shape to that of an arrow. Press the left mouse button and while the button remains depressed move the mouse to change the object's size.
If you wish to maintain the aspect ratio of the object, depress the CTRL (control) key while moving the mouse. In the case of a box object this will ensure that the height will always be equal to the width. In the case of circles this will ensure that circles always remain perfectly round.
You may select more than one object at a time by holding down the SHIFT key when selecting objects. The procedure is as follows:
1. Point to the object you wish to select and click on the left mouse button.
2. Move to the next object you wish to select but first depress the SHIFT key.
3. Mow click on the left mouse button and keep it depressed. Handles will appear around both objects.
4. If you move the mouse with the left mouse button depressed, you will move both objects at once.
You can also use the SHIFT key to unselect objects. Point to the object you wish to unselect with the mouse. Depress the SHIFT key and click on the left mouse button to release the object from the current selection.
To release all selections click on an area of the form that contains no objects.
Fine Positioning & Sizing of Objects
You can use the keyboard for fine positioning of objects. To exactly position an object select it as indicated above. Then use the left, right, up or down arrow keys to move the object a small degree. You can keep the arrow key depressed for faster movement.
To resize an object by a small degree, hold down the SHIFT key and use the left, right, top, and down arrow keys to change the object's dimensions. The left and up arrow keys will reduce the objects size. The down and right arrow keys will increase its size.
