Form Output Properties
This dialog defines the print properties of the form.
Title
The full name/title of the form. This is what will appear on your report menus and form lists when you are asked to select a form/report to execute.
Destination
This defines where the form's output will be sent.
Printer - Directs output to the printer specified in the Print To list box.
Disk - Sends output to a disk file specified in the Sent To edit control.
None - No output is generated. This is useful if you have created a form that performs special pre-processing and is not intended for printing. For example, a form that generates a database file for importing into another application, or for use by another form. There would be no point in previewing or printing a copy of such data.
If
the output is set to "none" all output is suppressed, including paper (hard copies), fax and
email.
Print To
Select the default printer device for the form. The form will take on the page size presently selected for that printer device. It is always recommended that you select the printer device you wish to use before designing a new form. This is because the size of the page you have to work with is often determined by the type of printer you select.
Send To
If you will be outputting to a disk file you should specify the full path and file name of the file to output.
You can also click on the
button to view your computer's directory tree.
Copies
The default number of copies to print of this form. This becomes the default setting unless overridden.
The
copies to print setting is generally overridden when a form is printed directly from CAPITAL. For example,
when you print an invoice, a dialog appears prompting you for the form name, number of copies to print
and so on. The number of copies to print is passed to Visual Builder as part of the print job request,
so under these circumstances the setting will be ignored. The Copies setting is used, however, when a
form is printed directly from inside Visual Builder when executing forms from the 'Execute Forms' directory.
Suppress Print Settings Dialog
If this option is ticked, you will not be prompted to check or change printer dialog settings before printing commences.
The print dialog cannot be suppressed if you have not supplied sufficient information for Visual Builder
to print the form. For example, if you specify a disk file as the "output destination" but you
do not specify a disk file name, the system must display the print dialog in order to gather the additional
information.
If you have selected the form's print output as "None", then this setting has no effect on the form as it will not be printed or previewed anyway.
Chain Forms
You may link up to 5 other forms to the current form when printing.
After the current form has completed printing, the first form on the Chain Form list will be executed. This process will repeat until all forms on the list are printed. You may also embed forms inside other forms if you wish, so there is no practical limit to the number of forms you can print at once.
Visual Builder will not re-execute a form that has already been printed. If you wish to print a form more than once you should increase the number of Copies setting.
Notes
Accesses any note information associated with the current form. This is user-defined area for storing notes on what the form does, how it works, etc.
Page Set-up
Accesses the page set-up dialog for this form.
