ODBC Linking Tutorial


 

How to Link OBDC to CAPITAL Databases

 

generate/hint.gif This tutorial was done using Windows 2000 Professional. Windows 98 and 95 are similar but not exactly the same.

 

1. Open the Control Panel in Windows

2. Goto Administration Tools under Windows 2000 and select the Data Sources icon

3. Under Win9X go straight to the Data Sources icon in the Control Panel

 

4. Select the File DSN Tab

5. Click Add

6. Select a Visual Foxpro Driver (preferably the one below) but there are others..

7. Give the DSN a friendly name.

8. Click Finish.

9. Select Free Table, then type the path to your files.

You can know go into MS Excel and create an external data link via MS Query to any of the CAPITAL databases.
