Invalid Header ID

Indicates a damaged or destroyed data (DBF) file.

If running on a network, log all users off the network and repeat operation to double-check that the file really is damaged and can no longer be read by your system. Close and restart the server and the local computer.

An invalid header ID means that CAPITAL cannot recognise the start of the file as being a valid CAPITAL file. This may occur if a file is overwritten or incorrectly copied.

Ensure that this is not an operating system problem by running Scandisk on the computer that is holding CAPITAL's data files.

If the Invalid Header ID message continues, the only viable solution to a problem of this type is to restore a back-up copy.

See the topic: Non Critical Database Files for information on which files can be selectively restored from your back-up.
