Argument Errors

A number of problems may cause argument errors. Corrupted data files, file allocation table problems, internal program errors, memory problems and hardware glitches may be

responsible. Argument errors that apparently come and go randomly are likely to be caused by operating system corruption or driver fault or compatibility problems.

If CAPITAL displays "SG" as part of the message reporting the argument error, the system may have a corrupted screen driver. Try restoring the *.SCR files from your last back-up. (Be careful if changes have been made to user defined screens as this information is held inside

.SCR files.)

The general diagnostic procedure is:

1. Shut down and restart Windows.

2. Run Scandisk or an equivalent disk diagnostic and repair utility.

3. Try to reproduce the problem by restarting the program and returning to the same point in the application where the failure originally occured.

4. If the problem can be reproduced and CAPITAL Series 7 or above is being used, send a copy of the file CAPERR.TXT found in the company directory that is reporting the error, to CAPITAL Office Technical Support.
