1001 Open Error

A file that could not be opened at the location specified by the path statement.

If a Database Maintenance operation is run it will report any missing files and their file names.

CAPITAL files may have been set to read only. This would occur, for example, if data was restored from a CD-ROM back-up. Most CAPITAL files should be set to read/write access. For more information on this topic see the text under OS Error 5 (access denied) in this section.

Files can be reported as missing if you are attempting to run different versions of CAPITAL programs together. For example, one CAPITAL application with a later version number may expect certain new files to exist that don't yet exist because another CAPITAL application has not been correctly upgraded. A typical example would be attempting to run CAPITAL Visual Forms Builder alongside a previous version of CAPITAL.
