Account Navigator generate/En72.jpg

The Account Navigator allows you to view quickly the status of the accounts in your general ledger.

Balances

The Balances page shows you your account codes and descriptions, and your period activity and yearly balance for each account in your ledger. Period activity is the total value of postings (the sum total of all debits and credits) made to that account during the active or selected period. The yearly balance is the total of all activity from the first period up until the active or currently selected period.

You may view all the accounts in your chart of accounts or Profit or Loss or Balance Sheet accounts only. Choose your selection by altering the value contained in the Group box.

To change the active or selected period to view balances for, select a different period by altering the value in the Period box. The last period you select is remembered by the system as the current active period.

Codes

The Codes page shows you your chart of accounts structure in greater detail. To add, edit or delete a chart of account code, press the Add, Edit or Delete buttons below the account list.

History

The History page shows you all postings to the selected account code. Scroll up with the mouse or page up with the keyboard to view postings from previous periods.

Budgets

The Budgets page gives you an on-screen comparison of your actuals versus your budgets for your general ledger accounts.

The Period Budget is the budget assigned to the current period only. The variance is the difference between the Period Activity and the Period Budget. The Yearly Budget is the total of all period budgets up to and including the active or last selected accounting period. The variance after the Yearly Budget is the difference between the Yearly (total) Balance and the Yearly (total) Budget.
