Transaction Sorting ![]()
To access the Transaction Sorting Table, start the INSTALLATION Workshop program and from the main menu select Install|Transaction|Sorting.
This table allows you to sort the contents of your transactions. CAPITAL provides a number of standard sort sequences or you can define a custom expression using CAPITAL Business Script.
If you specify a sort sequence, CAPITAL will reorganise the contents of the transaction after it is saved. The next time that transaction is viewed or edited, its contents will reflect the sorting instructions specified here.
These
options do not apply to pick lists. The sort ordering of pick lists is controlled by the Visual Builder
form that prints it or your report selections for the standard pick list report.
Sorting Transactions
Begin by selecting the transaction you wish to change using the mouse or keyboard. The contents of the Details screen below the transaction will change to reflect the settings of the selected transaction.
Sort Method
Select from the list of pre-defined sort sequences or select User Defined and enter a sort expression.
Sort Mode
You may select either Ascending (from lowest to highest) or Descending (from highest to lowest).
Expression
You may enter a sort expression if you have selected a User Defined sort method. The expression is written in CAPITAL Business Script and may consist of any combination of stock fields.
Example expressions follow:
|
Expression |
Sorted By Result |
|
Bin + Name |
Bin code, then product code. |
|
Type + Title |
Product group type then product description. |
|
Location + Name |
Location of stock then stock code. |
|
Name2 + Name |
Alternate product name then product name. |
The sort expression is ignored unless the "User Defined" sort method is specified.
Hints & Tips
Comments, multiple lines of product description, serial numbers and non-stock items are carried along with each sorted line item. Consider the situation where product "XYZ" appears at the top of the transaction and has 2 comment lines below it, before the next product code appears. If the sorting sequence results in product "XYZ" being moved to the bottom of the transaction, any comment lines, extra lines of product description, non-stock items or other entries that are not actual product codes, are also moved with it. Therefore, the 2 comment lines below "XYZ" would remain below it after sorting had taken place.
If you wish to prevent non-stock items from being moved along with regular stock items, assign miscellaneous product codes to your non-stock items. You can make these miscellaneous entries Non-diminishing to prevent adjustments to stock. CAPITAL will then treat these products as "regular" stock lines and sort them as well.
If you select a User Defined sort method and define a sort expression, you may only sort transactions according to the available stock control fields.
