Stock Extended Price Fields generate/en72.jpg

Each stock item in the CAPITAL Stock Control database may have up to 8 standard stock price fields, and you may add a further 17 price fields to the system, using the Screen Builder, for a total of up to 25 price fields.

The standard stock price fields are designated the codes A through to H. Extended stock price fields must be designated the codes J through to Z. (The field name I is reserved for special purposes.)

To add an extended stock price field to the CAPITAL stock screen, do the following:

1. Go to the CAPITAL main menu.

2. Select from the main menu Special|Screen Builder

3. You will be presented with a list of screens you may edit. ALT-Tab or click back on the CAPITAL icon to reselect the CAPITAL main application and select File|Exit from the main menu to close it.

4. Press ALT-Tab or click with the mouse to reselect the Screen Builder window.

5. Select Stock Control from the list and press Open.

6. Move your mouse to where you wish to place the extended stock price field, and then press the right-mouse button and select Field from the pop-up list.

7. Type in an extended stock price field code (this may be any letter between J and Z.)

8. Press Tab to move to the Type selection list.

generate/mistake1.gifFor consistency it is strongly recommended that you leave the default field size set to 14 characters. The number of decimals will be set automatically, according to your default decimal settings for your price fields. You should not change this setting either. If later on you increase the number of decimal points to track for your stock control price fields, it is important to re-edit this field and also increase its decimal places setting to the same number. Failure to do so may result in rounding errors and other internal problems.

Usage Of Extended Price Fields

In combination with Customer Special Pricing and Supplier Special Pricing, extended stock price fields should be accessed with reference to the stock user fields database. Examples of formulas include:

Staux000->J

Staux000->K * 1.1

Stock->C + Staux000->Z

In most cases you cannot refer to an extended price field by itself. For example:

C + Z

may not be a valid formula. So it is recommended to always reference the field with "Staux000->" like so:

C + Staux000->Z

Limitations of Extended Price Fields

Extended price fields cannot be used to track system maintained cost price information; such as average cost or last cost. You must use the price fields between A-H for these purposes.
