To access Service Manager Stage Management, go to the Service Manager area and select from the menu Job Entry|Stages...

Service Manager Stage Management allows you to divide your service and job costing project work into a series of steps or stages and assign each of these stages an identifying number and name, a start and completion date, and estimates for labour, stock/materials, costs, and other expenses You may also assign a profitability margin target for each stage.

Press the Add, Edit or Delete buttons to add new stages, change their details, or delete them. When adding or editing a stage you will be prompted for the following information:

Stage

The stage number is entered here. Each stage must be assigned a stage number. This number must be in the range 1-999.

Name

The name or description of the stage. You do not have to assign a name to each stage however it is recommended that you do so.

Estimates

Labour

This is an estimate of the total labour projected to be used in relation to this stage number.

Stock

This is an estimate of the total stock/materials projected to be used in relation to this stage number.

Expenses

This is an estimate of the total expenses related to supplier invoices that will be assigned to this stage number. These expenses may include subcontractor costs for work performed related to the stage, purchases of materials that will not go into stock and be invoiced out again on the stock/materials list, and any other invoiced charges from suppliers relating to the stage.

Costs

This is an estimate of the total cost of labour, stock/materials and expenses for this stage.

Margin

This is the target profit margin to achieve for this stage. It should be entered as a percentage. E.g., entering 50 = 50%

Start

The actual or estimated start date of work on this stage. This is optional and for reference purposes only.

Completed

The actual or estimated completion date of work on this stage. This is optional and for reference purposes only.

Actuals

The actual column displays the actual time/labour, stock/materials, expenses and overall cost total assigned to the job, against their matching estimates.

Variance

The variance column shows the difference between the estimate and the actual value assigned.

Billed

The billed percentages show the percentage billed of the actual total for time/labour and stock/materials.
