Portional Pricing
Unique Stock Tracing Component Only
Users of CAPITAL who have the Unique Stock Tracing Component installed can assign the Portional Property to goods that must be tracked in Stock Control in various lengths, sizes, widths, etc.
Products can be tracked by their individual or unique sizes or dimensions. Item sell prices are based on a fixed selling price per length/metre/cubic metre, etc.
An Example
Consider that you have a series of "widgets" in stock. The total number of metres is 100, but these are cut to various lengths. These are:
|
Widgets |
2 units |
x 1 metre |
2 |
|
|
10 units |
x 5 metres |
50 |
|
|
4 units |
x 12 metres |
48 + |
|
|
16 pieces |
|
100 metre total |
In Stock Control you can create a single product item which can keep track of the different metre (or other) lengths it is held in. This avoids the need to have to create multiple product codes for each different size that you might be carrying.
Set-up Tutorial
The set-up procedure is as follows:
1. Start the INSTALLATION Workshop program.
2. From the menu select Stock Tracing|Specification Table.
3. Edit the Portional Pricing property.
4. Enter the appropriate unit length. For example, a length of 7 would give you a maximum dimension of 9999999. (Assuming you have no need for a decimal point.)
5. Make sure the Type is set to: Numeric.
6. In the Input formatting enter a numeric picture clause. This should be a series of 9's plus a decimal place if appropriate. Valid formats might include:
99999 (for a maximum of 5 digits)
9999.99 (for a maximum of 4 digits plus 2 decimals)
999999.9 (for a maximum of 6 digits plus 1 decimal)
7. The Unique property setting should be left unticked.
8. It is recommended that you show the pieces that are sold on your invoicing and other transactions,
so Expand Descriptions should be
ticked.
9. For Stock Control purposes you should show what pieces are available on your stock reports. Ensure
that the Include On Reports is
ticked.
You should be able to leave the remaining options set to their default settings.
10. Exit the INSTALLATION Workshop program and return to CAPITAL.
11. Assign your stock group(s) or the appropriate stock items to the portional pricing property.
For more information on how to assign unique stock tracing properties to stock items see the topic: Stock Tracing Assign Properties.

Using the above example your screen should look like the following:

How To Invoice
A stock item that has been assigned a portional price has a slightly different input method during invoicing. The key difference is that you should not bother to immediately enter the quantity in the QTY column if you will be picking from the available list of pieces, as the total quantity will be recalculated for you.
You may enter any number under the QTY column (such as 1) The following screen will appear. (Its contents are based on the above example and may vary on your system.)

If
the account does not handle back orders or back order mode is disabled, you would not be presented with
the back order column at the end.
If you were then to sell 2 pieces of a 5 metre length, you would press the down arrow key to move to the 2nd row and then type 2 followed by the key.
You could also invoice 1 piece at a 12 metre length by moving to the 3rd row with the down arrow key and typing 1 followed by the key.
Click on the button when you are finished.
Once you have done this you will be returned to the main invoicing screen and the total number of metres (2 x 5 + 1 x 12 = 22) will be multiplied by the appropriate unit sell price in stock control for that particular item.
To
edit the quantities you have assigned click on the Qty column heading.
