Managing Departments ![]()
To access this dialog, select Tables|Departments/Locations from the CAPITAL main menu, and then press the or buttons.
Code
A unique code used to identify the department. This may be up to 8 characters long. The code must not clash with an existing customer or supplier account code and cannot be blank.
Name
The name or description of the department.
Access Level
The security access level to assign to the department.
Zero Sell Price
If transactions are assigned directly to departments they do not normally have associated sell prices.
This option should be left ticked

Copy Locations
If this department is also used as a stock location tick
this option if want a stock record added to the department when stock items are added to Stock Control.
This option is normally left unticked.
If
stock records are imported from an external file, this option will be ignored.
This
option has no effect if multi-location
stock control is not activated.
If this department is also used as a stock location tick
this option if you want all stock records for all locations automatically updated when a stock record
from any individual stock location is altered by a user. This option is normally left unticked.
For example, if you have product code WIDGET123 at location ABC, DEF and EFG, and the product code at location ABC is changed from WIDGET123 to WIDGET123B, then if this setting is ticked, the product codes at locations DEF and EFG are also changed from WIDGET123 to WIDGET123B automatically by the system.
If you are operating the Enterprise Edition of CAPITAL, you may also indicate which fields in your stock records are automatically syncronised when a stock record is changed. For example, altering the product description and prices for product ABC at location 1 could result in the product description and prices being updated at other locations as well.
