Manage Stock Locations

To access this utility start INSTALLATION Workshop and from the menu select Toolbox|Manage Stock Locations.

This utility is useful when setting up a new stock location or when you need to alter the location code of an existing location. It allows you to either:

1. Change a location code to a new code or,

2. Duplicate a section of your stock file, by placing all stock at one location into a new location.

Current Location

The location to either copy from or change.

New Location

The location to either copy to or change to.

Action

Copy

Select to copy all records in your stock file, that matches the first location, into new stock records based on the new location.

Move

Select to move all records from the first location into the new location. This procedure does not create any new stock records.

Include Tracing

Tick to include property assignments when copying or moving records. CAPITAL always copies property groups. For example, if a stock record is assigned to the properties "Colour" and "Batch" then the properties "Colour" and "Batch" are assignment to the new product also. However, if the "Colour" property has the assignment "Red", "Green" and "Blue" then these specific assignments will only be copied if this option is ticked.

Scripting Hook

If found in your program directory, the script R-STLOC.MAC is executed after each stock record is moved or copied. For more information see: Stock Location Management Hook.

Hints & Tips

• You will not be allowed to move stock unless multi-location Stock Control is activated.

• If you do not specify any locations or the first location and the new location are the same, the update process will not proceed.
