Linking Card Files to Transactions & Tasks ![]()
A special type of Card File database can be created that automatically links itself to CAPITAL transactions and certain kinds of jobs or taks. This is useful when you need to store additional information concerning a transaction in some consistent, structured way. An example might be a customer referral database, or a series of questions relating to installation or service.
The requirements are as follows:
The card file must have a specific name as indicated in the table below.
The first field in this card file must match the transaction number field name.
The field name must be sorted in Ascending order sequence.

To access the card file record associated with the transaction, select Open Card File from the transaction's Tools menu or the job or task's Database menu. This menu option will only appear on the menu if the relevant card file exists. For example, if you are in purchase orders and the card file PUREXTRA does not exist, the menu option will not be visible.
Linked
card files can be set to appear automatically when saving transactions. See the topic Screen
Properties for controlling this behaviour.
For
information on creating card files see the topic: Card
Files.
