HTML Help

It is possible to replace the standard CAPITAL help system with a HTML based help system if your computer has a web browser installed on it. (Such as Internet Explorer.) This is useful if you wish to develop company specific instructions, procedures or tutorials for your business.

In order to create a HTML Help system you must have access to a word processor or web page editor capable of saving your files in HTML format. Applications that can do this include later versions of Microsoft Word, Microsoft FrontPage and numerous free and commercial web page/html editing tools.

Saving HTML Files

CAPITAL will display your HTML page in place of the standard CAPITAL help page if you save your HTML file into the CAPITAL program directory and give it a correct file name. The file name must conform to the following format:

CAPnnnn.htm

Where nnnn is the topic ID number.

You can determine the CAPITAL topic ID by holding the CTRL key down while pressing F1. For example, do the following:

1. From the CAPITAL main menu select Tools|Postcode Search

2. Hold down the CTRL key and press the Help button or press CTRL-F1.

3. A message box will appear showing the name of the file that should be placed in your CAPITAL program directory. In this case this is CAP7001.htm.

Alternatively, you may place your HTML pages within a subdirectory called HTMLHELP within the Data Working Directory. For example, C:\CAPITAL\HTMLHELP.

HTML Contents Page

To override the CAPITAL contents page create a HTML file with the name contents.htm and save this into the CAPITAL program directory. When the user selects Help|Contents from the menu, this will be displayed instead.

Overriding HTML Help

To override HTML help hold down the ALT key while pressing F1. CAPITAL's standard help page will then be displayed.
