Email Services Installation ![]()
Enterprise & Corporate Edition Only or Electronic Document Exchange Component
To access Email Services installation parameters start the INSTALLATION Workshop program and select from the menu Install|Email Services...
The facility allows you to set your Email connection parameters so that CAPITAL can send messages directly to your Email service, bypassing the need to connect directly to your Email software.
Use Dial-Up Connection
If you are are accessing your Email service via a dial-up connection such as a modem (rather than across
a network connection) tick
this option.
Connection Name
The connection name is only applicable if you are using a dial-up connection. Select from the list of available connections the one that CAPITAL will use.
If
you have not previously set-up an Email account on your computer you must do this first. Refer to the
topic Dial-Up Networking in your Windows help file.
Account Name
The Account Name is only applicable if you are using a dial-up connection. This is the name of the account used to access your Email service. This is normally the account name provided to you by your ISP (Internet Service Provider).
Password
The password is only applicable if you are using a dial-up connection. This is the password you use to access your Email service. A password should have been provided to you by your ISP (Internet Service Provider).
Auto Connect
The auto connect(ion) option is only applicable if you are using a dial-up connection. Tick
this option if you would prefer that CAPITAL connect you to the Internet when required without prompting
you to confirm the connection first.
Retry Connection
The retry connection option is only applicable if you are using a dial-up connection. Enter the number of attempts to make before giving up on establishing a connection if there is a problem connecting. (Such as an engaged phone line.) The default number of retry attempts is 3.
Hang Up
The hang up option is only applicable if you are using a dial-up connection. There are three options to choose from:
When Finished
Always disconnect when finished sending mail.
Only If Dialed
Only disconnect the connection if CAPITAL made the connection in the first place. If the connection is already open because another application has opened it, then it will be left open. This is the recommended setting.
Never
Never hang up the connection whether CAPITAL established it or not.
SMTP Host (or IP)
Enter your SMTP Host (Email server) address or IP number. This number should have been provided to you by your ISP (Internet Service Provider). If you use an Email program such as Outlook or Eudora then you can check its setup connection parameters to obtain the SMTP host name or IP number.
SMTP Authentication
If your mail SMTP Host (mail server) requires authentication, tick
this option. Not all servers require or allow such authentication.
SMTP Account
The SMTP user account name. This may need to be specified when the SMTP password is insufficient to connect to your mail server. Usually for most mail accounts this entry may be left blank.
SMTP Password
Some SMTP services require that you supply a separate password. If this is the case for your service, then you may enter it here. An additional SMTP password is not usually required.
Your Email Address
This is your own Email address. Some SMTP hosts do not allow you to send mail unless they can identify you as one of their clients.
If
you are running the Electronic
Document Exchange Component and users are emailing documents or faxes (using a fax server), the user's
Email address is used in place of this generic Email address. You can specify an Email address for each
user by entering this information under their Staff
Profile. The Email address on the tab is used.
Reply To
This is the Email address you wish to appear on the messages you send out as your 'reply to' address. This is normally the same as your Email address.
The
settings entered here are local to the specific computer they are set-up on. They must be repeated on
each computer that will be using Email Services. Setting changes take effect as soon as the
button is pressed.
For
information on troubleshooting your email configuration see the topic: Communications/Email
Solver.
