Discount Price Rule Entry ![]()
To access a rule's details press or when viewing the Customer or Supplier Special Pricing table or double-click with the mouse on a selected rule.
Price Group
Enter a Price Group code or leave blank to let the rule apply globally to all customers. The Price Group code should match the Discount code of the customers it is intended to apply to. Codes may be up to 8 characters long and must consist of letters of the alphabet only.
Rule No
The rule number determines which rules get checked first within a Price Group. For example, if rule 100 and rule 200 both meet the conditions you specify, then the rule/discount assigned to rule number 100 will be applied instead of 200.
It is also recommended to allow a gap between rule numbers so that other rules can be inserted easily between them if that becomes necessary later on.
Global
price rules are always checked first, before price group rules, regardless of the rule number.
Special
If ticked this rule will only apply if the stock item has its Special setting also ticked.
Account Code
Enter the Account Code to match if this rule is to be valid. Specify this to restrict a special price to a particular customer only.
Category
Enter the customer Category to match if this rule is to be valid. Specify this to restrict a special price to a particular category of customers only. Partial matching is allowed using this field so entering "S" will match with "S1", "S2", etc.
From Product
Specify a product code if you wish to restrict the rule to a particular product code only.
To Product
Specify a product code if you wish to restrict the rule to a range of product codes. If To Product is specified, you must also specify From Product. The rule will then apply to all products including and between the two product codes.
Apply From
If the price is restricted to a particular time period only, enter the start date here. Only invoices, quotations or sales orders that are equal to or come after this date will apply.
Apply To
Enter the end date of the special price.
Enter the quantity ordered or sold that must be achieved (as a minimum) for the rule to apply. For example, entering 50 would require 50 or more units to be invoiced/ordered for the price to change. If you do not want the quantity break to be checked, leave this set to zero.
Place the highest quantity break rules first. (The ordering of a rule is determined by its Rule
No.)

Supplier Group
Enter the stock supplier group to restrict the rule to if applicable. Note that the hash (#) symbol can be placed in front of the code to create a "any supplier except" rule. For example, #ACME would mean that the rule would apply to any supplier group except the group ACME.
If you will be using the # symbol, you must always place it in front of the code. I.e., #ACME is correct.
ACME# is not.
To
Enter a supplier group here if you wish to specify a range of suppliers for this price rule. Codes that fit alpha-numerically between the first and second set of codes will then apply the rule. Provided that you specify a "#" (not equal) symbol in front of each code in the range, you can have a "any code except this range" rule.
Stock Group
Enter the stock group to restrict the rule to if applicable. Note that the hash (#) symbol can be placed in front of the code to create a "any stock group except" rule. For example, #SPARES would mean that the rule would apply to any stock group except the group SPARES.
To
Enter a code here if you want to designate a range of stock group codes that this rule should apply to.
List Price
Enter the list price that will be used in place of the default list price if this rule is applied. If this list price is left at zero, the default list price will be used.
Discount Value
Enter a stock price field, an amount, or a simple formula if applicable. Acceptable formulas include:
|

|
D + 5% |
Stock Price D plus 5 per cent |
|
E - 5 |

|

|

Price D minus price C |
|
Stock->D - C |
Equivalent to D - C |
Discount Name
Enter the name/description of the discount. This is printed on sales orders, invoices, etc., if a discount is shown on your forms.
Location
The stock location can be specified here. If multi-location stock control is active and a product code has been specified, then this field is not applicable since the location of the product code takes precedence.
All Locations
Tick
to apply this price rule to stock items regardless of the stock item's location. If not ticked, then the
rule only applies to the stock item you selected at its designated location using the Find window.
This
setting is not applicable if multi-location
stock control is not activated.
Department
The department only applies if CAPITAL is in multi-department mode. The invoicing/ordering department must match the department on this rule, if specified, in order for the rule to be applied.
All Departments
Tick
to apply this price rule to stock items regardless of the transaction's sales department that the stock
item is assigned to. If not ticked, then the rule only applies to the stock item for transactions that
match the designated sales department code.
This
setting is only applicable when multi-department
mode is activated.
Measure
Enter the dimension unit of measure when selling or purchasing in different dimensions. For example, this may by Metre, Pack, Doz, SQM, etc. This code should match the code placed in the Measure Name field specified in the Box Dimension Table.
For more information on this topic see: Dimension Based Pricing.
If
you are matching by the unit of measure the Box Dimension setting is ticked
automatically. Do not untick this setting.
Box Dimension
Tick
this option if the rule will only apply when invoicing, ordering, quoting or purchasing in box dimension
units. This option remains available to provide backward compatibility with earlier versions of CAPITAL,
however it is now made redundant by the Measure field (see above).
When
a measure is specified this option is automatically ticked by the system. Do not untick this field unless
the Measure field is blank.
Tax Code
Enter a tax code that a stock item must match in order for the discount to be applied. Leave blank for this option to be ignored.
Apply When Exempt
Tick
to only apply the rule if the transaction is tax exempt or GST free. If unticked then the condition is
not applied in evaluating the rule at all. (It's therefore important to specify a ticked rule before other
rules if pricing based on charging tax is important.)
Hints & Tips
The # (not equal to) setting only works with stock and supplier groups. Don't try to apply this to other fields, such as account codes or departments.
If you are working with stock groups that consist of letters and numbers, be careful to code the groups to be generally of equal length. For example, GROUP01, GROUP02, GROUP25, etc. If you specify a group range of say GROUP1 to GROUP5, then CAPITAL will consider GROUP11 to fall between these two ranges. This is because CAPITAL "sees" GROUP11 as GROUP1.1 not as GROUP 10 plus 1. GROUP-1-1 is still less than GROUP "2"
