Bookmarks ![]()
Bookmarks allow you to tag an area of the system so that you can return to it quickly. You can set a tag on an area by accessing Goto Bookmark from the application menu. You may then add a bookmark to the bookmark list, if a record or transaction is open, or select Goto to return to an existing bookmark.
If you are on the main menu you may also select Close All Bookmarks to clear all existing bookmarks from the system.
When you select Goto, the Bookmark List appears:
Click on the number next to the bookmark to open that bookmark and return to that area. For example, in the picture above, pressing 3 would switch the system to the Supplier's area and move to the account E2000. You can also press the left or right arrow buttons in the bottom left corner to move to the previous or next selected bookmark. Otherwise use the arrow keys or mouse to move through the list of bookmarks and press the button when you wish to open your selection.
To remove any bookmark in the system select it first with the arrow keys or mouse and then press the button.
Record Bookmarks
You can place a bookmark on the main records of the CAPITAL system. These include (depending on which parts of CAPITAL are installed):
Stock Items
Customers
Suppliers
Cashbook Transactions
Service Manager Job Cards
Hire Manager Jobs
Assemblies
Card File Records
Record bookmarks are always created the same way. For example, to create a Stock Item bookmark, do the following.
1. Go into the Stock Control area.
2. Find the record you wish to bookmark.
3. From the menu select Goto Bookmark|Bookmark.
Now you can go to another area of CAPITAL. When you wish to return to this spot, select from the menu Goto Bookmark|Goto or press , and select this bookmark from the list of available bookmarks, and then press the button.
Transaction Bookmarks
You can also place bookmarks on transactions. These include (depending on which parts of CAPITAL are installed):
Invoices
Stock Transfers
Sales Orders
Quotations
Purchase Orders
Stock Returns
Stock Receipts
Requisitions
Transaction bookmarks work a little differently from record bookmarks. In order to ensure that you don't end up with different versions of the same transaction open at once, after you bookmark a transaction CAPITAL will automatically suspend it. You may then go to another area of the application or create another transaction. When you wish to return to the bookmarked transaction, select Goto Bookmark|Goto and select the transaction you wish to return to.
When
you bookmark a transaction, the transaction number assigned to the transaction is reserved until you return
to the bookmark and either save or cancel the transaction. So keep in mind that if you have many transactions
bookmarked at once, none of these transaction numbers may be used by you or other operators on your network,
until you return to the bookmark.
When you go back to a bookmarked transaction, the bookmark is automatically removed from the Bookmark List. This is a precaution to ensures that it is not possible to keep two versions of the same transaction in the system at once. If you need to go to some other area of the application and you are not finished with the one you are working on, simply bookmark it again.
Fast Switching
If the bookmark menu is available in the area of CAPITAL you are working in, you can press as a short-cut to access the Bookmark List window.
You can also rapidly switch between different bookmarks you have open in the system, by holding down the shift key and pressing . If you do this, CAPITAL will move to the next bookmark in the system. After the last bookmark is opened, CAPITAL returns to the first bookmark. This cycling through your bookmarks can be repeated indefinitely.
When
a transaction bookmark is opened, CAPITAL automatically removes that bookmark from the Bookmark List.
If you have a transaction open, and you press , CAPITAL will give
you the option to re-bookmark the currently open transaction before switching to the next bookmark. In
this way you can use to switch between all your currently open bookmarks
without clearing any of them.
Hints & Tips
You cannot set or change a bookmark if you have 'zoomed' from one area of the application into another. This restriction is in place to prevent the cancellation of everything above the area that is currently zoomed.
You cannot set or change bookmarks if you are performing a bulk operation, such as doing global invoicing from the Service Manager, creating automatic purchase orders or releasing back orders. Always exit from or cancel the global process first.
