Bar Coding
CAPITAL
Visual Builder supports more than 20 of the most popular bar code types or "symbologies" plus
variations. Bar codes can be printed on invoices, stock labels, purchase orders, picking lists, delivery
dockets and other documents. Any information you wish can be printed as a bar code, although the most
commonly coded items include such things as product codes and customer codes.
For more information on the technical aspects of printing bar codes and the different symbology types consult the Visual Builder Bar Coding topic.
Bar codes can be read into CAPITAL using a keyboard wedge style bar code scanner. These devices translate bar codes into keystrokes which then appear in CAPITAL as if an operator had typed them in.
Several features are available in CAPITAL to make bar codes easier to work with. The Fast/Scan Input option can be set to make the scanning of bar codes more efficient during data entry. See the topic Invoicing Options/Prompt & Special for more information.
CAPITAL can also be set to search multiple product code field references for a match when entering products and bar codes, or when scanning them. This is known as the Extended Transaction Search feature. For information on this see the topic: Stock Control General Options.
